Creating communities through innovation and regeneration

Harraby Green Business Village

Christopher was the driving force behind his early brainchild: possibly the first fully integrated ‘Business Village’ in the country, situated at Harraby Green in Carlisle. His early design for a return to sustainable communities dates back to the early eighties, when such concepts were only just being taken seriously. Today, he is developing blueprints for the next generation of sustainable communities, which he plans to establish across the north of England.

Regeneration of disused industrial property

Regeneration is a cornerstone of Christopher’s beliefs, and he enthusiastic seeks out the most challenging regeneration schemes he can. An example of this is his Highgrove project, a disused factory site in Carlisle that has been transformed into a sustainable community of housing, offering unparalleled quality homes for sale that have turned the local house building market on its head in terms of quality, value and price. All the public bodies involved were enthusiastically involved in a team effort to technically overcome the many difficulties this site had, creating a textbook development scheme now being used by the Environment Agency and other bodies as the example to follow in terms of public and private engagement.

Design and planning

Design and Planning is another key pillar in Chris’ skills base. Over the past twenty five years, he has developed a reputation with the local planning authorities as someone who is dedicated to the delivery of each projects approved plans. He is energetic in maintaining the detail and robustness of what was agreed at the outset. He is very keen to involve all the stake holders and statutory bodies from day one of any project he is involved with and his input results in real trust being developed between all those parties moving forward.
